Recapture Your Own Heart & Mind

Cheryl: Guides, I was contacted by a reader after the recent US election, who expressed having mixed emotions and much concern about the future.
She posed an excellent personal and collective question for you this month: “How do I combine my spirituality and politics in a transformative way?”
Will you please speak to this, and bring some clarity and comfort for all of us?
Akashic Guides: This is indeed a timely question for each and every one inhabiting the planet regardless of their circumstances.
We would first offer the observation that some aspect of all you perceive and believe to be true has been compromised. By this we mean that no matter how good or positive the origin of something is, it can be bent to a less positive end … and often is. This applies whether it is a religion or spiritual path, political party or ideology, organization or agency, news source or social media, or any other human construct. All can be inverted; and has been to some extent.
Dear Ones, it would benefit you to question everything – for, believing that anything is beyond question or examination is simply not based in the reality of your world. This is why we have said in the past that discernment (which is accomplished in the heart) is so crucial as you move through these times.
This is not meant to fill you with despair, or cynicism, or drive you to nihilism, but rather to help you see that things are not as they appear.
The dualistic thinking you have been trained in keeps you trapped, preventing you from seeing the truth in all its complexity. This limited way of thinking also effectively sets you against one another, keeping you in a state of antagonism, rancor, and separation. Moreover, it blinds you to your own true identity and power.
If you wish to combine your spirituality and politics for the sake of positive transformation, return to the true foundations of your spiritual path. Is not Love the foundation of all true spiritual paths? Allow yourself to let your spiritual understandings and beliefs assist you in comprehending your world and guiding your choices.
On a practical level:
✴︎ drop into your heart
✴︎ once there, open both your heart and your mind
✴︎ be willing to listen twice as much as you speak
These elements are sorely missing in your current human discourse and relationships due to technological manipulation of information and intentional sowing of controversy and division.
These postures and actions of openness seem basic. Yet they are not easily achieved in an environment where promoting ideas is more important than mutual, respectful dialogue, wherein half-truths or lies are vehemently presented as facts. In these cases, a good place to begin is by simply acknowledging that you are primed to argue-with rather than to understand another and their experience!
This personal transformation – the willingness to be truly curious, open, and respectful of one another – will lead to the transformation you desire in the outer world.
Perhaps not tomorrow, Dear Ones, but you are here for the long game. You can, if you choose, hold the template frequency for the positive now and the positive future to come. It is not work for the fainthearted. Yet, we know you to be fully capable.
The discordant energies now so overwhelming to you can be brought into harmony to benefit all, but not from your current emotional and mental set. If positive transformation benefiting all fellow beings is your desire, we encourage you to be willing to courageously soften your certainty that you are ‘correct’ in your current assessment.
Only then will you be able to engage one another from your heart and see the wider view.
If you are convinced to hate one another, to disdain someone for holding a different perspective, we would say that you are ‘captured’ by the true enemy (which is far beyond any political party or ideology), for you have allowed yourself to be manipulated by half-truths into forsaking your true nature and seeing another as less-worthy.
Disagreement naturally abounds in your world! But war – war is not natural to human beings. And all war begins with the fomenting of fear, hatred, and an unwillingness to listen. Recapture your own heart and mind that you may abide in Love.
Cheryl: And is there any comfort?
Akashic Guides: In these times, you naturally desire comfort. Yet many among you believe comfort comes in the form of insuring that things will turn out ‘your way’. This is terribly flawed, being based upon a misperception of reality, domination, and exclusion. If comfort comes at the expense of another, it will bring no peace. Such ‘comfort’ is in conflict with your desire to know the truth.
If you see only in black and white you will never see the colors, and you will never see what is true.
When you cling to black/white, good/bad, right/wrong, left/right, red/blue thinking, it prevents you from seeing the fullness of creation. It prevents you from unifying with your brothers and sisters about what you have in common. And you do have so very much in common.
Place what is eternal first and what is transitory second. Be true to your spiritual understandings regarding these things. With this as your guide, you will know peace within the tumult of change.
